Short Description:
Atlanta, GA Race, Culture and Aesthetics October 8-10, 2010 Curator: Charmaine Minniefield How do race and culture influence our aesthetics and processes as ensemble theatre-makers? In partnership with Alternate ROOTS, Micro-Fest: Atlanta will go deep into exploring how participating theatre-makers answer this question. This festival will kick-off with a Town Hall style dialogue engaging festival participants to immediately begin defining their answers to this question. Over the course of 2 and half days festival participants will be asked to respond to a series of questions about the ways culture influences creative choices. How ensembles are making plays and creating new work that defies genre will be addressed through the lens of race and culture. Performances, Master Classes, Creative Labs, and Artist Dialogues will provide the framework for individual examination and public discourse on race, culture, and aesthetics. Curated performances for Atlanta have not been selected at this time.
