WonderRoot and Alternate ROOTS Announce Artists Professional Development Opportunity from Creative Capital

June 13, 2011, Atlanta, GA – WonderRoot and Alternate ROOTS have partnered with the Emory University Center for Ethics to offer a professional development training opportunity for artists of diverse disciplines. Internet for Artists, a weekend long workshop by Creative Capital, will teach artists how to use the power of the web to promote their work. Scheduled for October 21-23, 2011 at the Emory University Center for Ethics this workshop will be facilitated by artists Dread Scott, Blithe Riley, Steve Lambert and Brad Lichtenstein (all from NYC and Detroit).

The workshop is by artists and for artists and has been designed to create strategies for the individual artist’s career, bringing success as he or she defines it. WonderRoot, Alternate ROOTS and the Emory Center for Ethics are pleased to offer this professional development program for Atlanta artists at a time when web-based media is evolving rapidly.

Applications will be received through August 31, 2011. In order to apply, interested artists should visit http://alternateroots.org/internetforartistsapplication to fill out the application form. 24 artists will be selected based on a range of criteria including diversity in discipline, experience using web-based media and expressed interest and need.

The workshop explores how internet resources can be used to build audience, expand community, amplify marketing and extend administrative resources. Participants develop a step-by-step holistic strategy for using a range of internet applications from social networking to e-commerce to achieve specific career goals.  (Sample agenda attached below.)
