SOUL Sanctuary for Activist Artists
Date/s:
08/23/2012 - 12:00pm - 08/27/2012 - 12:00pm
Short Description:
We are thrilled to announce that we are accepting nominations for our 2012 SOUL Sanctuary season! One of the most revered programs at The Stone House, SOUL Sanctuary was born of a desire to help shift the culture of social justice work toward greater sustainability and effectiveness. The movement-wide impact of overwork, exhaustion, stress and cynicism leaves many activists hungry for a way of living that nourishes the mind, body and soul as it nurtures the world.
We believe in the transformational power of retreat in the context of shared social justice values. This five-day, self-directed retreat at The Stone House includes:
rest, fellowship and community
daily opportunities for meditation and yoga
time in the garden, art studio, and on the land
home-cooked, locally-grown food
stone circles offers SOUL Sanctuary free of charge for all participants, enabling a wide range of people the ability to access and enjoy the program. The group for each session is at least 50% people of color. We welcome up to 10 organizers, activists and others working for social justice each session. This year, we will also be repeating our highly popular SOUL Sanctuary for Artists, as well as offering our first SOUL Sanctuary for Men (for which we welcome all who identify as men, including biological, identified, trans, gay, straight and/or other).
Please read about this opportunity on the website and download the nomination form there.
