A team of Alternate ROOTS Resources for Social Change (RSC) members have created an outline of chapters for a book they are writing to reflect on the organization's programmatic activities, successes and challenges, the outcome of which will create a series of Action Lesson Plans. This Learning Exchange will animate and engage in discussions and activities about how to best make these Action Lesson Plans effective. Those interested in curriculum development, community-based arts practice and cultural arts for community development and sustainability, should participate in this Learning Exchange.

In the city, the population age spreads were 24.8% for persons under the age of 18, 10.9% for ages 18 to 24, 29.9% for ages 25 to 44, 21.2% for ages 45 to 64, and 13.2% were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 87.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.9 males.The median income for a household in the city was $30,078, and the median income for a family was $35,438. Males had a median income of $31,767 versus $26,832 for females. The per capita income for the city was $16,978. About 18.8% of families and 22.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 30.6% of those under age 18 and 18.0% of those age 65 or over.
