One Web Day: NOLA!
One Web Day is simple: a bunch of geeks going out into the world in a week of volunteering, idea exchange and service.
It's a time for people who work in technology to get back in touch with their communities and make a difference.
This year jellobrain.com and friends are going to be focusing in New Orleans between September 21st - 27th.
For ROOTers?
A good 'ol fashioned website training, as long as I'm in NOLA. Please respond to this forum ('add new comment' below) or email ana@jellobrain.com. Please let me know interest and/or availability.
Why New Orleans?
Because NOLA represents a unique opportunity for technologists to learn what it
means to build community infrastructure that matches the real world
needs of people and communities who are actively in the process of
organizing to rebuild.
The intention of this week is not to come in and fix New Orleans. The intention is to learn.
It's an opportunity for technologists to understand more about
community building by listening to a uniquely tenacious and resilient
example of it.
In exchange for that opportunity, organizations will learn about
different free tools and technologies available for building technology
infrastructure that will match their needs.
This exchange of learning will demystify technology in a way that is easy to understand and empowering for all skill levels.
Schedule:
The schedule is still being built in cooperation with different local organizations and friends of jellobrain.

Don't miss this opportunity to tailor these sessions around the specific types of needs your organization has.
The types of get-togethers will include:
- Free consulting sessions
for organizations with similar needs or functions (membership programs,
event production, educational programming, remote staffing, etc) - Technology 101 and 201 sessions for non-profit organizations.
- Think Tank networking and panel discussions
for technologists and organizations on how to strategically plan for
building infrastructure as your organization grows and changes.
