ROOTS Week 2017
Alternate ROOTS’ 41st Annual Meeting & Artists’ Retreat
Back to the Basics – Down to the ROOTS
Tuesday, August 8-Sunday, August 13, 2016
Lutheridge Conference Center; Arden, NC (near Asheville)

ROOTS Week Annual Meeting & Artists’ Retreat is a unique gathering of artists and cultural organizers who are creating a better world together. The five-day, family-friendly event combines performance, learning exchanges, late-night cabarets, visual art installations, ROOTS business meetings, and unscheduled retreat space.

ROOTS Week is the place where we build community, try out new ideas, share our work, think critically about our processes, move the conversation on art, activism, and community forward, strengthen our alliances with the movements that are changing the South, and seek to embody the just world we are working to create the remaining 51 weeks of the year. Won’t you join us?

Alternate ROOTS supports the creation and presentation of original art that is rooted in communities of place, tradition or spirit. We are a group of artists and cultural organizers based in the South creating a better world together. As Alternate ROOTS, we call for social and economic justice and are working to dismantle all forms of oppression—everywhere.
