Whoops...did I register right?

I am going to go over, in a little more detail, the process of registration so that you can troubleshoot where in the process the registration for membership or the annual meeting went awry.

As was mentioned in the tutorial about logging in, registration, and membership, there are three different types of registration-like activities that you go through in the process of registering for the annual meeting, or for membership:

  1. the first is registering on the site, or becoming an 'authenticated' user.  in order to login, you first have to register.  if you were registered automatically, your username will usually be your first initial and last name (both starting in CAPS): EWitt, CTurner, ect..  Loging in will ensure that the computers database knows who you are.  The process of navigating through the registration process  for membership or for the annaul meeting will lead you through the process of logging in, or explain what you need to do in order to register.
  2. the second phase of registering is to fill out a form for the benefit of Alternate ROOTS being able to more effectively serve the needs of folks going to the meeting.  It is a long form/questionaire.
  3. when you 'submit' or 'save' that form, you should be automatically taken to a page that has a variety of different types of registrations to pick from.  this is where you pick, and purchase the registration that you are wanting.

Something Went Wrong: how to troubleshoot...

  1. Login to the site.  You may already be logged in.  The way that you can tell is if you look to the left hand menu bars, if you are logged in, you will see one with your username as the heading.  If you are not registered/logged in, click the 'login' link at the bottom of the page.
  2. Did you fill out a registration form?  Once logged in, look at the menu with your username on it, and click my account.  When that page loads, click 'Edit'.  Once you are in the edit screen, you will see a secondary link called Annual Meeting or Membership.  If one of those items is not there or you click on it and it's blank, you should go to the membership form or the registration form, and go ahead and fill one out.  Once you submit that form, you should automatically be taken to a page where you can pick which type of registration/membership you want.  When you pick it, you will be taken to your cart, and the payment process will continue from there.
  3. Did you choose a registration type that you wanted to add to your cart?  Once you login, you will notice the link to 'My Shopping Cart' in the above mentioned Menu item.  Please click that button, and see if there is anything there.  If not, please go to the list of membership types or the list of product types, choose one, and go through the purchase process...
  4. Did you fill your cart but not pay for the items?  Once logged in, go to the URL: http://alternateroots.org/cart/review.  If when on that page, you see a 'page not found' error, you might want to consider the items above and go through the processes that they take you through.  If you still have no luck in figuring this out, please call the ALternate ROOTS office (404.577.1079) and we will help you out.  If when you go to that page, you see an order, then you will want to scroll to the bottom, and click to complete the payment process.
