Visual Arts Installation Application

Visual Artists who are planning to install work at Lutheridge, please complete the following application to help us plan accordingly: Alternate ROOTS is pleased to announce an increase in its ability to facilitate installation of visual arts exhibits and sharing of visual arts processes at the Annual Meeting this year.

A number of non-traditional indoor and outdoor spaces are available for work installation at Lutheridge. Artists intending to show work should understand that their work will be intentionally placed in the same space as the work of artists of other disciplines. Installation budget is limited (i.e. ROOTS cannot transport/install monumental sculpture). Works in progress are welcome!

Artists may also participate in:
  • digital slideshow of images
  • discussion of artistic process with other visual artists during open space and other caucus times
Visual artists will not be compensated for sharing their work in this capacity.  They should see this as an opportunity to dialogue with their peers in the field and in other disciplines about their work and about sharing processes for arts & social justice.
Best Practice Warning
Because these forms can be tricky, it is recommended that you copy and paste the questions into a Word document that you save your answers in and come back to paste them into the form when you're ready for upload. That way, if something goes kablooey (technical term) with the form before you're done, your work will not be lost.
Check all that apply.
Work Samples/Sketches/Photos
Please upload 3-5 work samples or sketches of site-spcific work to be considered for installation at Lutheridge. Images must be JPEG files at 300 dpi, audio files must be MP3, time-based media can be submitted via links from which the work may be viewed online (youtube, vimeo, etc). To upload a URL, simply copy and paste the URL into a Word document, include any instructions and information about what we will be seeing (e.g. "This is a video from my gallery opening of kinetic sculptures in Charlotte, NC in December 2010. Please fast forward to 01:23 to witness an amazing moment between the audience and a piece...") For Lutheridge site-specific installation, please upload a detailed sketch/visualization in the form of a JPEG with proposed dimensions, location, media, etc. For all work samples, sketches, etc., please provide a summary document in Word, which includes the following information for each work sample: • Title • Medium/Media • Dimensions • Date Work samples must be submitted online. If you’re having difficulty with that process, please contact Shannon Turner at 404-577-1079 for technical support. Please contact Ashley Minner with any other questions or concerns at 410-245-4303 / ashley.minner@gmail.com.
