Reimagining Education Through Creative Collaboration
Education is a powerful tool for change, and Alternate ROOTS is committed to reimagining what it can look like. By integrating art into learning, our members create spaces where creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration thrive. These efforts are transforming classrooms and communities alike.
ROOTS member Angela Freeman recently partnered with a local school district to introduce theater-based learning into history classes. Students engaged in role-playing exercises that brought historical events to life. Teachers reported increased participation and deeper understanding, proving the value of creative approaches.
Outside traditional classrooms, ROOTS supports community education projects. From public art installations that teach local history to workshops on organizing for social justice, our members provide opportunities for lifelong learning. These programs empower individuals to become agents of change in their communities.
Collaboration is key to our approach. ROOTS connects artists with educators, activists, and organizations to create interdisciplinary projects. These partnerships result in innovative programs that address pressing issues like racial inequity and climate change while fostering a love of learning.
Education at ROOTS isn’t just about knowledge—it’s about transformation. By combining art with activism, we’re equipping people with the tools to imagine and create a better world. It’s a vision we’re proud to bring to life, one project at a time.
