DeMarcus Akeem Suggs
Resource Synergist & Resident Hype Man
DeMarcus Akeem Suggs is a creative synergist with over 10 years of experience in the nonprofit cultural sector. He is a dance artist, educator, and arts administrator fueled by a passion to cultivate and sustain a vibrant, equitable, accessible, and people-centric arts sector. Following his graduation from Belhaven University’s BFA in Dance program, DeMarcus performed with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Dayton Ballet, Verb Ballets, Neos Dance Theatre, and various independent dancemakers’ projects. He has instructed developing artists in the disciplines of ballet and modern dance at Neos Center for Dance, Stivers School of the Arts, Cleveland School of the Arts, Baldwin Wallace University, Ohio Northern University, and Oberlin College. DeMarcus honed his administrative acumen while serving as Program Director with The Victory Project (Dayton, OH), Education & Engagement Coordinator with Victoria Theatre Association (now DaytonLive; Dayton, OH), Director of Education & Outreach with Neos Dance Theatre (Oberlin, OH), and as Graduate Assistant for the National Center for Choreography – Akron (NCCAkron). He’s excited to graduate in May 2021 from The University of Akron with a Master of Arts in Arts Administration.
