Alternate ROOTS’ Membership Team invites ROOTS members to engage in May Membership Mayhem.
During May Membership Mayhem, the Membership Team will introduce or reacquaint the Membership body of Alternate ROOTS with their work in service of the Members. We encourage Members to stay connected, aware, knowledgeable, and engaged.
May Membership Mayhem: Plan a Rhizome or Connect Virtually!
As we celebrate members and engage members virtually in May, we also encourage members to host their own gatherings with local ROOTers through our Member Rhizome Events. A Rhizome can take many shapes: a small discussion, a dinner or potluck, a workshop – whatever you want. ROOTS is a coalition of artist-activists, organizers, and cultural bearers across 14 southern states and DC. Host an in-person Rhizome to reconnect and meet your folks locally in order to keep ROOTS thriving across the south!
To host a MAY Rhizome gathering, simply email membership@alternateroots.org with “May Mayhem Rhizome Request” in the subject line and we will get back to you with details!

- 5/1: May Member Rhizome Campaign kicks off: as we celebrate and engage members in May (mostly virtually), we also encourage hosting local Member Rhizome Events. These gatherings can be anything from discussions to dinners or workshops. Join us for the next ROOTS Week Work Group meeting during May Membership mayhem. Whether you’re interested in joining the planning process or have questions about presenting your work at ROOTS Week, these sessions are for you! Applications to present will open soon, and we’re here to answer your questions. These two upcoming meetings will be giving out the same information. You do not need to attend both.

Join us for a review of the last three years’ impact and progress of Strategic Partnerships, with a preview of what’s next. Attendees can shape the upcoming feedback session on Thursday, May 30 by hosting in-person or virtual Rhizomes focused on discussing Strategic Partnerships. Register HERE

Guided by the mantra of being in harmony with ourselves, each other, and the Earth, the Heal/Teal Team at Alternate ROOTS invites you to explore healing and artistic practices toward collective liberation. Join us for Tea Time as we discuss the role of healing arts in addressing global genocides, honoring lost cultures and lives while celebrating their resilience and value.
