Rodrigo Dorfman is an award winning multimedia producer and educator known for his documentary collaborations with the North Carolina Latino community. He has worked with POV, HBO, Salma Hayek’s Ventanazul and the BBC among others. His films have been screened at some of the top international film festivals in the world (Toronto, Full Frame, Edinburgh, Telluride, Human Rights Watch). Rodrigo Dorfman recently won the Jury Award for Best Short at the Full Frame Film Festival. His company, Melloweb, works in cooperation with NGO’S, educational and grassroots organizations to create multimedia documentaries as a means to develop intercultural, social, scientific and political communication.

Current Projects:
Rodrigo Dorfman’s films engage audiences in conversations about the identity, the immigrant Latino experience, media literacy, autism and multimedia storytelling as an educational and transformational tool.

Screenings: The Latino Credit Union Educational films include Angelica’s Dreams (Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award) dealing with the travails of buying your first home. Tommy! engages audiences with autism and art, Occupy the Imagination offers conversations on creativity, cultural resistance and media literacy.

Residencies: Help capacitate young members of disadvantaged communities in the art of multimedia storytelling and empower them to become active participants in their communities in an age of digital information.

Fee Structure:

Screenings: On a sliding scale ranging from $150 to $1,500 depending on location and type of institution. All screenings include a workshop with students and a copy of the DVD.

Residencies:
– One week full time: $2,500
– Residencies of more than week are available
– Longer terms After School are also available

All fees are negotiable and do not include travel costs. All residencies include multiple screenings.

Tommy is a sixty year-old man autistic man with the life-long dream of singing with a Big Band. Against all odds, armed with his golden voice and his all-American optimism, Tommy embarks on a quest to have the “world on a string”.
