King ShakurAbout the Artist:
King is a poet and spoken word artist heavily influenced by poverty, youth engagement, Hip Hop and Soul music. He does powerful performances, and teaches workshops on media images and Hip Hop and how it influences youth, and workshops to help people find their voice and tell their story. A published poet, with over 15 years of performing experience, and a workshop presenter for students at Fayetteville State University, Savannah State University, Allen University, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, and several more.

Current Projects:
Current work is poetry addressing poverty, the effects of the prison industrial complex, love, and life. The workshops on poetry for youth and adults, is about allowing and helping people discover their voice. The workshops on media images and the hip hop culture address how powerful the media is and the effects on our youth. How we view them, and how they view themselves.

Fee Structure:

  • Single Performance: $400 – Covers travel(up to 300 miles) and housing/$600 over 300 miles
  • Multiple Performances: $300 each – $450 each over 300 miles
  • One-day Residency: $700- workshop and performance/$1000 for any place over 300 miles
