As members, we contribute to the rich work we do in different organizational areas.

 

50th Anniversary and Investment Work Group:

This Work Group meets monthly to discuss and explore possible ideas for investing ROOTS Funds. Additionally, they will be working on the planning of the 50th Anniversary of the organization.

UpROOTing Ableism, Contact: Nathalie Nia Faulk

The UpROOTing Ableism workgroup brings together artists of varying abilities to create initiatives and deepen analysis that directly addresses ableism within ROOTS culture. We invite all members to join us in creating new language, ways to make art, and ways to be , that make room for artist and organizers of all ability levels

Finance Work Group, Contact: Stephen Clapp

The Finance Work Group meets quarterly to review financial statements, and assist with governance and policy decisions around the finances of the organization. Members who are timid about financial statements are highly encouraged to participate – this is a great learning opportunity!

Gender Work Group

This work group is for TGNCNBI2-S (Transgender, Non-Conforming, Nonbinary, Intersex, and 2 Spirit) folks and committed allies who are interested in building gender literacy, addressing gender-based harm, and reassessing harassment at ROOTS through arts, education, and ROOTS policy.

ROOTS Week Work Group

Works with staff to plan and execute our signature event, ROOTS Week. Meets as needed throughout the year, with more frequent meetings held in the months leading up to ROOTS Week.

Heal Teal Team

The Heal Teal Team is a group of ROOTS healing artists and organizers which are charged with centering healing, ecological care, and transformative justice in ROOTS and Southern Regional culture. We invite all those who identify as healers or even those who do not, to join us in monthly conversation and action.
