We are excited to announce an incredible group of creative individuals has joined the ROOTS team! They join our other amazing 15 team members and bring their knowledge, passion, and expertise to our membership, strategic partnerships, and development work throughout the US South. Artists and Cultural Organizers of all ages are an important part of our work at ROOTS, and we are thrilled to welcome more to join our staff. We are building capacity as the organization expands our services, programs, and support for members across the region.

LaQuita Marie (she/her)

Development Associate

LaQuita is also the co-founder and artistic director of Atumpan Edutainment, Inc. Atumpan Edutainment (AE) is the Mid-Atlantic Region’s leading arts education ensemble using original theatrical productions, world music, folklore, and dance as vehicles for inclusion and social change.

Dominque (she/her)

Partnerships Program Associate

Dominique is a certified horticulturist and has been working in the Atlanta area for the past three years. She has lived in Georgia since 2008, where she developed her interest in urban agriculture and conservation. Growing up in Miami, Dominque was able to experience many different cultures and observe each one’s interactions with the land and conservation efforts.

Marina (she/her)

Executive Assistant

Marina is a bridge-builder, pathfinder, and puzzle solver. With a background working for international non-profits in the humanitarian field, Marina’s journey has taken her to very interesting places. Her latest experience was in Palestine, working for over two years as a coordinator for advocacy initiatives and grassroots partnerships.

Zaid (he/him)

Membership Services Associate

Zaid is a spoken-word poet born and raised in East St. Louis, IL, and will be relocating to Atlanta, GA. Zaid graduated from East St. Louis Senior High in 2012, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2017. He has been a member of his local poetry slam team for three years, currently finishing up his first poetry book titled, If You Only Knew, to be released this summer.
