Marina is the Operations Manager, she is a bridge-builder, pathfinder, and puzzle solver, pathfinder, and puzzle solver. With a background working for international non-profits in the humanitarian field, Marina’s journey has taken her to very interesting places. Her latest experience was in Palestine, working for over two years as a coordinator for advocacy initiatives and grassroots partnerships. Born and raised in Brazil, her path recently brought her to the United States.

A proud Latina and immigrant woman, she is passionate about her community and is a strong advocate for social justice, immigrant and refugee rights. She believes in decolonizing our society, institutions, and ourselves. Marina is also a writer, focused on poetry and creative writing, her main creations are in her first language, Portuguese and she loves to celebrate culture and people through her art. She is now based in southeast Georgia with her partner.

Alternate ROOTS supports the creation and presentation of original art that is rooted in communities of place, tradition or spirit. We are a group of artists and cultural organizers based in the South creating a better world together. As Alternate ROOTS, we call for social and economic justice and are working to dismantle all forms of oppression—everywhere.
